Located in the Emergency Services Complex, Muhlenberg County Emergency Management serves as the leader when disaster strikes. The role of Emergency Management is to perform command operations during disaster events, facilitate communication between all emergency responders, engage and manage media operations, as well as many other duties. Emergency Management also is empowered with preventing disasters through inspections, trainings, and regular communication with the public, businesses, government (local, state and federal) and vendors. By focusing on preparedness and training, Muhlenberg Emergency Management envisions a safe, secure, productive Muhlenberg County.
The Muhlenberg County LEPC was created as a part of the State Emergency Response Commission. It's purpose is to prepare Muhlenberg County to respond effectively to the release of hazardous substances. There are 2 meetings annually of the LEPC at the Muhlenberg County EM office. Member of the LEPC consist of representatives of nearly every facet of our county. From business leaders to clergy to technology, everyone meets to help plan for events within our community.
